A Word From Tees Valley Mayor
Ben Houchen
When I first heard of the plans to bring the airshow back to Teesside International Airport I was keen to do all I could to support it. It isn’t just enjoyed by local people, but brings thousands of people tourists to the area.
Recently, on top of bringing our airport back into public ownership, we have hosted a raft of successful, high-profile events such as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and the Great North CityGames.
The can-do attitude that Teesside is known for has helped us pull these off, so it made sense to build on this success and do something positive for local people at our airport.
It’s another vote of confidence in our region and our abilities, and the 2020 event will prove to be another spectacular show for people of all ages.
The time has never been better to make the Tees Valley Airshow a firm fixture in our region’s calendar, once again, and I look forward to seeing it fly.
